Role overview A senior engineering role on a Risk team supporting a web application and the data pipelines that power a healthcare-focused platform. The position emphasizes improving, maintaining, and expanding production systems with secure, maintainable, performant, and stable code rather than chasing greenfield rewrites. The hire will act as a trusted technical decision-maker and mentor within an Agile, cross-functional environment.
Responsibilities - Develop and implement scalable, performant solutions across a web application and supporting data pipelines. - Partner as a peer with engineering managers, product managers, and other stakeholders to develop and execute technical roadmaps using Agile processes. - Mentor and coach more junior engineers through thorough pull request reviews, and remain receptive to critical feedback on own work. - Lean on observability, alerting, metrics, high test coverage, and frequent releases to incrementally deliver value while minimizing risk.
Requirements - BS/BTech or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - 6+ years of experience building full-stack web applications as part of a cross-functional team. - 3+ years of experience working with SQL or another database querying language on large, multi-table data sets. - 3+ years of experience acting as a trusted technical decision-maker in a team setting, balancing short-term and long-term business value. - 3+ years of experience coaching other engineers.
Nice to have - Full-stack web application experience in any language or framework. - Expertise in at least one server-side web technology such as Node.js, Java, Python, Scala, C#, C++, Go, or another JVM-based language. - Experience with data ingestion systems and performance optimization for large-scale data processing and analysis. - Familiarity with relational database systems and API design and development. - Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, plus containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and with security considerations for systems that handle sensitive data.
