Remote job
Senior Software Engineer (Privacy) - Tech Foundations
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior engineering role on a Tech Foundations team that builds the privacy and data lifecycle platform behind a health prevention and insurance product serving millions of members across Europe. The position owns and evolves a GDPR orchestration platform, enables dozens of internal product areas to manage their own data rules, and acts as a cross-functional bridge between legal, security, and engineering.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve a privacy platform covering data retention, deletion, anonymization, and pseudonymization, including its safety mechanisms, audit trail, and operational health. - Build the paved road for adoption: documentation, templates, self-serve tooling, and pairing support that let product areas run their own data rules. - Coordinate cross-area data work, aligning legal, security, data, and product teams on requirements and resolving design trade-offs. - Write production code in Python and TypeScript, ship it, and operate it through rollouts, on-call, and incident response. - Draft framing documents, dependency maps, and design communications that align multiple teams on platform decisions. - Push open platform design questions to closure and grow capabilities as products and data footprint expand.
Requirements
- Significant senior engineering experience with strong, hands-on Python and TypeScript skills in production systems. - Comfort designing abstractions, guardrails, and reusable patterns that make correct data handling the default. - Pragmatic delivery style: ships sound solutions quickly and improves them over time rather than waiting for perfect. - Strong written and verbal communication in English; able to align several teams on technical decisions. - Eligibility to work in France, Belgium, or Spain; remote flexibility with a value placed on in-person collaboration.
Nice to have
- Prior exposure to privacy, GDPR, or data governance work. - Experience operating within an enabling or platform-team model.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-friendly within France, Belgium, or Spain with emphasis on in-person collaboration time. - Hiring is described as level-agnostic, prioritising high potential and curiosity over checklist matching.
