About this role
Role overview A Staff Engineer position on a SaaS platform team building and continuously improving a GitOps-based control plane for managing Kubernetes deployments at enterprise scale. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural direction across a globally distributed platform.
Responsibilities - Design, build, test, and improve the SaaS platform, bringing strong engineering judgment to deliver high-quality developer tools. - Develop server-side code primarily in Go. - Collaborate with engineers and designers to design, implement, and ship features that simplify infrastructure operations for users. - Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across complex, high-impact projects and initiatives. - Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices across the organization. - Ensure the platform remains scalable and built with developer empathy as usage grows.
Requirements - 10+ years of development experience, including 4+ years building scalable web applications in Golang. - Hands-on experience building Kubernetes controllers or operators at scale on AWS, GCP, Azure, or on-prem. - Deep knowledge of systems design, API design, and infrastructure for distributed systems. - Demonstrated experience leading the architecture and technical direction of complex, distributed systems. - Experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL. - Genuine interest in designing a great end-to-end developer experience, plus exceptional communication and a collaborative mindset. - A BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Nice to have - Experience with Argo CD, Kargo, or GitOps-based delivery workflows. - Familiarity with multi-region, multi-cluster Kubernetes deployments. - Experience with compliance-adjacent infrastructure (SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 28000:2022, HIPAA, or PCI DSS). - Background operating infrastructure for other platform or developer tooling companies.
