Backend Java Engineer

Role overview Build and operate Java backend services that handle continuous event streams and large analytical workloads. The role covers system design, performance and reliability improvements, and technical leadership across distributed services and data systems.

Responsibilities - Design data schemas and define how backend data is represented and used. - Maintain and scale Java APIs and distributed services. - Diagnose performance issues using service metrics, application data, and observed system behavior. - Improve system reliability, testability, and maintainability; contribute to shared engineering standards. - Work with product and engineering peers on technical designs and implementations. - Lead substantial releases and technical projects, using AI tools to help investigate issues and critically reviewing their suggestions.

Requirements - At least three years designing, operating, and maintaining distributed systems. - Strong Java development skills and professional fluency in spoken and written French. - Experience with unit testing, code reviews, technical documentation, and Git-based version control. - Experience leading significant technical projects or releases and familiarity with CI/CD practices. - Clear communication, a collaborative and pragmatic working style, and a focus on dependable, maintainable software.

Nice to have - JVM performance troubleshooting and optimization experience. - Google Cloud Platform experience, knowledge of distributed NoSQL databases or key-value stores, or strong Linux administration fundamentals.
