Software Engineer – Flight Automation & Drone Integrations

Role overview

Develop the software that plans, runs, and monitors autonomous inspection flights, and connect new aircraft and payloads to the system. The work spans software, hardware, and field operations: you will assess vendor interfaces, build reusable platform support, and validate changes with real aircraft.

Responsibilities

- Build and maintain flight automation from mission planning through in-flight execution. - Integrate drone platforms, flight controllers, and equipment such as cameras, LiDAR, and other sensors. - Assess hardware compatibility and work with manufacturer SDKs, APIs, and technical documentation. - Create shared tools and abstractions that support multiple aircraft platforms without repeated implementation. - Test changes in the field alongside operations and testing colleagues; investigate issues involving telemetry, logs, radio links, or sensors. - Contribute to architecture, safety, and reliability decisions, and own technical work from initial idea through production.

Requirements

- At least three years of software development experience. - Ability to work with SDKs and APIs, including when vendor documentation is inconsistent or incomplete. - A careful, structured approach to testing systems where software failures can have physical consequences. - Independence and willingness to take ownership of a technical area. - Full professional proficiency in written and spoken Swedish and English. - Valid category B driving licence, and willingness to work outdoors and travel for field tests.

Nice to have

- Experience integrating software with hardware, such as drones, cameras, sensors, embedded devices, or robotics. - Familiarity with camera geometry, including projection, intrinsic and extrinsic calibration, and coordinate transforms. - Experience with MAVLink or DJI SDKs; these are useful but not required.
