Senior Data Scientist, Trust (Inference)

Role overview A senior data science role embedded in a Trust organization, focused on inference systems that detect risk and abuse across a two-sided marketplace. The position combines modeling, experimentation, and production analytics to protect users and hosts while minimizing unnecessary friction.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate inference models and risk-scoring systems that power trust and safety decisions. - Partner with engineering, policy, and operations teams to translate trust signals into product actions. - Lead measurement and experimentation around fraud, abuse, and account integrity. - Investigate complex incidents using behavioral and transactional data to identify root causes. - Mentor other data scientists and raise the technical bar for inference and causal work.

Requirements - Several years of applied data science experience, with significant work on risk, fraud, trust, or safety problems. - Strong skills in SQL, Python, and production experimentation or causal inference methods. - Experience deploying or partnering on machine learning models that run in real-world systems. - Solid grasp of statistical inference and the practical challenges of measuring rare or adversarial events. - Excellent communication skills for working across technical, policy, and operations partners.
