Job details
About this role
Role overview A commercial humanoid robotics company is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build the machine learning platform that powers its fleet of bipedal robots. The role sits within the ML Infrastructure and Platform group and is responsible for the foundational layer behind data processing, training, simulation and real-world evaluation, model management, and observability. The work enables teams across perception, controls, skills, and innovation to develop and operationalize foundation models and end-to-end policies at scale.
Responsibilities - Contribute to the design and implementation of the ML platform that orchestrates the end-to-end AI flywheel of data processing, training, evaluation, and deployment. - Develop reliable workflows across cloud compute, Kubernetes, and continuous automation. - Build core infrastructure components such as the model registry, feature store, and experiment tracking tooling. - Own developer-facing APIs and CLI tools that make ML workflows simple and reproducible. - Implement CI/CD for ML that enables continuous retraining, automated testing, and seamless delivery to production. - Partner with data platform engineers to integrate ML orchestration and metadata tracking with the existing data lake and pipelines. - Apply MLOps best practices around reproducibility, lineage, rollback, monitoring, and governance, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements - Five or more years of software engineering experience, including two or more building ML infrastructure, data platforms, or MLOps systems in production. - Hands-on experience with components of modern ML platforms such as experiment tracking, model registries, training pipelines, or deployment systems. - Familiarity with orchestration and tracking tools such as MLflow, Weights & Biases, Airflow, or Kubeflow. - Proficiency with cloud-native platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containers, and infrastructure-as-code tools like CDK or Terraform. - Experience processing multimodal data such as sensor logs, camera streams, or behavior traces. - Comfort working cross-functionally with research scientists, data engineers, and robotics or autonomy teams.
Nice to have - Background in robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, or embedded ML. - Contributions to open-source ML infrastructure or MLOps tooling.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-friendly role within a fully distributed engineering culture. - Anticipated base salary range of $197,000 to $307,000 USD, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus. - Benefits include 401(k) with company match, equity, fully company-paid medical/dental/vision and disability coverage, EAP, parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and unlimited PTO for exempt staff with twelve paid holidays.
