Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead engineering across two connected areas: marketing systems and consumer privacy experiences. The team’s work supports consumer-facing web journeys and measurement while accounting for consent and data protection. You’ll develop engineers, set a shared operating approach across the two areas, and guide delivery with product and technical partners.
Responsibilities - Coach and develop engineers, set clear expectations, and support their growth and increased responsibility. - Create a shared operating model that clarifies priorities, technical ownership, decisions, and ways of working across both areas. - Partner with product managers and technical leads to turn business priorities into engineering plans and deliver against roadmaps. - Guide work across logged-out web experiences, experimentation, marketing integrations, attribution, measurement, consent, and consumer data collection. - Coordinate with engineering, product, marketing, privacy, and legal partners, clarifying ownership of shared tagging and measurement systems. - Build privacy considerations into solution design, and keep delivery reliable while balancing customer needs, business priorities, speed, and risk.
Requirements - Experience managing and developing software engineers through coaching, candid feedback, and accountability. - Strong engineering foundation and sound technical judgment, ideally on consumer-facing or high-traffic web platforms and complex integrations. - Ability to turn product and business goals into plans across different technical domains and roadmaps. - Strong communication and stakeholder skills, including explaining technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Good judgment when priorities, dependencies, and risks compete, with attention to quality and operational reliability.
Nice to have - Experience with marketing technology, web experimentation, analytics, attribution, instrumentation, or measurement systems. - Familiarity with privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or Australia’s Privacy Act, or with consent, cookies, tagging, and consumer privacy systems.
Benefits and work setup - Remote role open to residents of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan. The position is remote-first, with occasional office needs possible and in-person onboarding for new hires. - Listed Canadian base pay is CAD $181,000–$241,000 per year. The package may include equity, monthly health, wellness, and technology stipends, fully subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision coverage for dependents, flexible time off, holidays, and an employee stock purchase plan.
