Senior Staff Software Engineer, Perception
Job details
About this role
Role overview This is a senior staff-level engineering role focused on the perception stack for an autonomous ground-handling system used in aviation operations. The work centers on designing 3D object detection models that fuse camera, LiDAR, and radar inputs, and on taking those models from research all the way through production deployment. The position combines deep technical leadership with mentoring and cross-functional roadmap ownership.
Responsibilities - Architect multi-modal 2D and 3D object detection models, combining camera, LiDAR, and radar data - Design and maintain the data collection and evaluation pipelines, including the metrics used to track model quality - Build a proprietary multi-modal dataset for use in both training and benchmarking - Train, deploy, and monitor perception models in a live production environment - Define and execute the technical roadmap for the broader perception system - Mentor junior engineers on best practices and guide cross-functional initiatives end-to-end
Requirements - Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Deep Learning, or a closely related field - 7+ years of focused experience architecting and deploying 2D and 3D object detection models - Hands-on experience with the full perception stack, including sensing, preprocessing, detection, and tracking - Strong proficiency in Python - Demonstrated ability to identify technical gaps and lead cross-functional projects to close them
Nice to have - PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related discipline - Full-stack autonomous vehicle experience spanning perception, prediction, planning, and controls - Prior experience architecting complete perception systems, with emphasis on detection and tracking - Publications at top-tier venues such as CVPR, ICRA, NeurIPS, IJCAI, or AAAI
