About this role
Role overview A full stack developer is needed to plan, design, build, and test advanced data processing systems and dashboards for a federal-agency program. The work spans every layer of the application—from user interface through web and application servers, cloud hosting, databases, reporting, DevOps, and application monitoring—and is carried out in a CMS Agile XLC environment alongside a Scrum team.
Responsibilities - Develop and enhance applications across UI, web server, application server, cloud host, database, reporting, DevOps, and application monitoring layers using JEE, JBoss, Ruby on Rails, MarkLogic, Red Hat, AWS, Edifecs, and related EDI and analytics tooling. - Produce and review code, present at preliminary and detailed design reviews, and contribute to technical documentation, metrics, and strategic analysis artifacts. - Partner with the Scrum team to align implementations with the proposed architecture and accepted development standards and best practices. - Gather and analyze data to generate forecasts, assessments, recommendations, and operational reports. - Support risk management activities and contribute to project schedules, implementation design specifications, system flow diagrams, testing plans, and ongoing application support.
Requirements - 3–4 years of hands-on experience with Java, object-oriented programming, J2EE, and microservice design fundamentals. - Working knowledge of Agile Scrum delivery, multithreading, and common design patterns. - Experience with Spring Boot or Quarkus, building and consuming REST APIs, and integration frameworks such as Apache Camel. - Familiarity with messaging systems (ActiveMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS), JSON/XML/XSD schema work, and both relational and NoSQL databases. - Hands-on use of AWS services (S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, or RDS), Docker, with a basic understanding of Kubernetes or OpenShift, plus CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Git, Maven). - Comfort in Linux environments, testing with JUnit or Mockito, API tools like Postman or SOAP UI, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
Nice to have - Basic Python scripting for automation or AWS tasks. - Exposure to JavaScript for frontend or full-stack work.
Benefits and work setup - Posted pay range of $98,800–$110,000 USD for candidates in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia; compensation varies by location, skill set, and experience.
