Job details
About this role
Role overview
Build and maintain automated quality checks for web products, working directly in product teams and alongside software engineers. The role focuses on choosing the right level of testing, keeping delivery pipelines dependable, and helping teams catch defects before and after release.
Responsibilities
- Create end-to-end checks for critical user journeys using Playwright or a comparable framework. - Work with engineers to place coverage in unit, integration, API, and browser tests where it is most effective. - Keep continuous integration suites fast, stable, and useful when failures occur; investigate and reduce flaky tests. - Automate repeatable release checks, including accessibility and cross-browser coverage. - Investigate defects that reach production and add checks to prevent similar issues from recurring. - Review AI-generated tests for meaningful assertions and useful coverage.
Requirements
- At least three years of web test automation experience, writing production code in the same repositories as engineers. - Strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills and deep experience with Playwright or Cypress. - Experience running parallel test suites in CI on pull requests, with failure artifacts such as traces and screenshots. - Practical API or contract testing experience, such as REST testing, Postman, or Pact. - Sound test data practices using fixtures, factories, or seeded databases. - Experience with cross-browser or device testing, accessibility checks, and basic load testing; familiarity with tools such as axe, k6, or Artillery is relevant.
Nice to have
- Performance or load testing beyond the basics. - Accessibility testing methods that complement automated checks. - Mobile automation on physical devices.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote work across the MENA region, with working hours arranged around team overlap. - Small product teams, direct client contact, and delivery cycles measured in weeks. - Budget for equipment and software, plus a learning budget with time to use it. - Paid time off and no timesheet-based tracking.
