Job details
About this role
Role overview Own the mobile application work for products such as travel apps and logistics field tools. You’ll shape the app’s architecture and interaction details, then guide it through store review, release, and early use. The default stack is React Native with Expo, with native development when platform capabilities require it; offline operation and performance on lower-end devices are central parts of the work.
Responsibilities - Make decisions about application architecture, navigation, and state management. - Prepare releases for both major mobile app stores and address review feedback. - Set up build and release workflows, crash reporting, over-the-air updates, and staged rollouts. - Work with designers on motion, gestures, and the details that make an app feel responsive. - Implement and refine offline behavior, background sync, permissions, and battery-conscious operation. - Investigate performance and reliability issues on real devices.
Requirements - At least four years in mobile development, including two years with React Native, and apps released on both major stores. - Experience with React Native and Expo managed and bare workflows, and when each is appropriate. - Strong TypeScript skills for navigation and API boundaries. - Hands-on experience with EAS or Fastlane, signing, TestFlight, and staged releases. - Practical experience with local storage, optimistic updates, and resolving sync conflicts without losing user data. - Familiarity with push notifications, deep links, crash reporting, and store review requirements. - Ability to use Swift or Kotlin when native modules or platform fixes are needed, and to test on physical devices.
Nice to have - Experience with Mapbox or MapLibre and offline maps, consumer apps with public ratings, or mobile analytics.
Benefits and work setup - Remote work across the MENA region, with schedules organized around team overlap. - Small teams and direct client contact, with products that can ship within weeks. - Budget for equipment and software, plus a learning budget with time to use it. - Paid time off and no timesheets.
