AI Engineer (Getti)

Role overview Develop the AI capabilities behind a shopping assistant that turns natural-language requests into relevant products from a live catalog. The assistant should handle English, Arabic, and Arabizi, ask useful follow-up questions, and be clear when it cannot find a suitable match. You’ll take an existing AI foundation toward production by improving recommendation quality, building a repeatable evaluation process, and managing cost, reliability, and privacy.

Responsibilities - Build and improve LLM pipelines for understanding shopping requests, handling multiple items, asking clarifying questions, and recommending catalog-grounded products. - Ensure suggestions reflect real product attributes, provide concise explanations, and avoid unsupported claims when no good match exists. - Improve conversation quality across English, Gulf Arabic, and Arabizi. - Create and maintain evaluation data from realistic regional shopping requests; test prompt and model changes before release. - Track quality, failures, latency, and cost per request, and apply controls to keep the feature reliable and affordable. - Maintain consent-based personalization, including editable or removable preferences and separation of gift searches from personal profiles; coordinate API contracts with mobile and backend engineers.

Requirements - Hands-on experience shipping LLM features, including retrieval-augmented generation or multi-step pipelines. - Experience designing evaluations and detecting hallucinations before users encounter them. - Practical skills for managing AI latency and operating costs. - Strong Python and backend engineering skills. - Clear written English and the ability to collaborate with a small remote team.

Nice to have - Experience with e-commerce search, product catalogs, or recommendation systems. - Familiarity with Arabic or multilingual language models. - Experience in an early-stage product team.
