About this role
Role overview Operate and evolve the data and feature pipelines that power large-scale machine learning systems for recommendation and advertising products. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering and applied ML, keeping billions of daily events flowing reliably while supporting data scientists and analysts with production-grade datasets.
Responsibilities - Own and operate existing data and feature pipelines serving recommendation and advertising ML systems. - Ensure billions of daily events move reliably through ingestion and processing, with monitoring, data-quality checks, and dependable backfills. - Support Data Scientists and Analysts with reliable data for production models and experiments. - Take over in-flight initiatives and maintain momentum on ongoing pipeline and platform improvements. - Troubleshoot and resolve data issues to keep the platform stable and within SLA. - Maintain documentation and runbooks to support smooth knowledge transfer.
Requirements - Several years of hands-on Data Engineering experience with the ability to be productive from day one. - Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and Spark, with proven experience building and operating large-scale ETL or ELT pipelines. - Hands-on experience with an orchestration tool such as Airflow. - Experience working with a major cloud provider, preferably GCP; AWS or Azure also welcome. - Hands-on experience with Kubernetes. - Solid software engineering fundamentals including Git, CI/CD, testing, and clean, maintainable code. - Strong ownership mindset and the ability to troubleshoot production issues independently. - Clear communication skills and effective collaboration with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Engineering teams.
Nice to have - Experience with a feature store or production ML data pipelines. - Hands-on experience with BigQuery. - Exposure to recommendation systems, ranking, or advertising data.
